Arsenal named as biggest threat to Manchester City

Roy Keane has named Arsenal as Manchester City’s biggest contender in this season’s Premier League title race.

The Gunners are behind a triumphant 3-2 victory over Liverpool which meant Arsenal concluded the week nine game top of the league table.

Arsenal have only lost one game this season and won the other nine, giving them 23 of a possible 26 points so far. They are a point above City, who remain unbeaten but have instead drawn two games against Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Former Manchester United captain Keane believes Mikel Arteta’s side pose the biggest threat to City in their hopes of winning three successive Premier League titles, despite naming Liverpool as their only other title contender in August. On Sky Sports, he said: “I think they are [Liverpool and Man City] one level ahead of everyone else…

“I just can’t see the other teams closing in on them for the title. There will be improvement at Tottenham and Manchester United have to be better than last year, but the simple answer in terms of winning the league: Liverpool and City. I can’t see beyond.

While on Monday Night Football on October 10, he stated, “They [Arsenal] they are playing with confidence, they have some physicality. They have good experience in midfield and talented young players.

“They are scoring goals, they have an electric pitch and at the moment they are the biggest challenge for Man City.”
