Arsenal monitoring Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba

Arsenal are monitoring Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba ahead of a possible summer move.

That’s according to transfer journalist Steve Kay, who says Arsenal have been fans of Tapsoba for a long time and the Leverkusen defender has admitted he’s happy with Arsenal’s interest.

Tapsoba’s impressive form in 2020 saw him nominated for the African Player of the Year award, and he has become a key member of the Bayer Leverkusen squad.

The 24-year-old is a graceful and composed defender who excels in one-on-one situations, with his acceleration allowing him to keep up with some of the fastest forwards in the league.

His skills on the ball will undoubtedly be one of the reasons why Arsenal will keep a close eye on him, as Mikel Arteta prefers his team to play from behind and maintain possession.

Tapsoba is out of contract in 2026 and a key player for Leverkusen right now, so you’d imagine it would take a hefty offer to get him away from the Bundesliga club, unless he forces a move.
