Arrest Warrant issued for Joe Mixon: Charges to be dropped

An arrest warrant was issued Thursday afternoon in Cincinatti for Bengals RB Joe Mixon, who is charged with aggravated assault.

The Cincinnati running back is accused of pointing a firearm at a woman and yelling at her: “You should bust in your face, I should shoot you. The police can’t catch me.”

According to the complaint, the incident occurred on January 21, which was the day before the Bengals eliminated the Bills in the Divisional Round of the Playoffs in Buffalo.

Joe Mixon’s agent released a statement Thursday afternoon, saying all charges against Mixon would be dropped Friday.

“It was a rush to judge. They’re dropping the charges first thing in the morning. I really feel that the police have an obligation to do their job before pressing charges, because of the damage that can be done to a person’s reputation.”

The Bengals also released a statement after the incident:

“The club is aware that misdemeanor charges have been brought against Joe Mixon. The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time.”

Mixon has also previously been charged with misdemeanor assault and was suspended for one season from college football at Oklahoma after he was shown knocking out a student in a restaurant in 2014.
