Armando Broja must now be handed the next step at Chelsea – Talk Chelsea

I write this after seeing rumors that AC Milan are interested in signing Armando Broja and some crazy claims that talks have even taken place.

By the way, this is complete speculation and I would bet on the fact that no talks have been started with any other club. Broja is a Chelsea boy through and through and has just signed a new long-term deal with us. His desire is absolutely to succeed at Chelsea, and he is not about to give that up after just six games under a new manager. He ignores any rumors to the contrary.

Graham Potter clearly rates and trusts Broja, he uses him in all the games. And Broja will certainly appreciate it. But what has to happen now, and what Broja has fully earned in my opinion, is him starting games for Chelsea as the next step.

In my opinion, he has done more than enough to earn a place under Potter, and I think he should now be given one to show that players will be chosen on merit and not just name. For me, Broja has been our best overall attacker in recent games and in his current form, he deserves a start.

But I don’t think for a minute that he’s upset or unhappy that he’s not starting at this point in the season. However, I think he will feel aggrieved if he continues to play well when given the chance and still doesn’t start.

That could be a different story. So Potter needs to use it wisely now and take the next step, rewarding him with a starting spot on the team and even a string of starts. I have no doubt that Broja will take advantage of those chances, he has been excellent so far this season with the few chances he has had.

It’s time to use it.
