Manchester United winger Antony sent an impassioned message to supporters just 24 hours after Brazil’s shock elimination from the World Cup.
The Selecao were knocked out of the World Cup at the quarterfinal stage by a determined Croatia led by Luka Modric on penalties.
Rodrygo and Marquinhos of Brazil failed to convert from the spot allowing Croatia to reach another semi-final.
Antony came on in the second half and made the difference, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough as his team’s campaign came to an end.
The United man posted a message on Instagram, reacting to last night’s heartbreaking loss.
Antony wrote: “First of all I need to say how proud I am of each one of you who has lived this dream with me! They are years, months, weeks, days and more days thinking about bringing this title back home, the country of football”.
“And we tried everything. Every drop of sweat spilled, every bug, every vibration, every dribble and goal. We did it! Today there is the sadness of elimination, of an interrupted dream”.
And he added: “However, I am sure that we will return even stronger, more united and with the same desire to bring joy to all those who cheer us on. Antony who is leaving Qatar today is the same one who painted the streets of Osasco dreaming of a world title”.
Antony finished off his statement by reiterating that Brazil will return and seek its sixth World Cup title.
He urged fans not to dwell on yesterday’s start, but to look forward to future tournaments with renewed hope.

The former Ajax attacker will no doubt now turn his full attention to United as he looks to help the Red Devils finish the season strong.
Antony, along with Casemiro and Fred, will now return to join the rest of the United squad and will hopefully be available for selection for the Carabao Cup contest against Burnley.
