Antony looks forward to his first away game for Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United travel to Moldova to face Sheriff Tiraspol in their second Europa League game tonight, looking to record their first points in the competition.

The match also represents the first away game for new signing Antony, whose first two appearances came at Old Trafford.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Antony expressed his excitement at donning the red shirt again as the team looked to make up points lost in their first group match against Real Sociedad.

“I always hope to play in a United shirt; it’s always a reason to get excited,” he said.

“Unfortunately, we lost the last game at home, [but] now we have to focus 100% on the away game and bring the three points home”.

The Brazilian is expecting a tough test in Moldova, with Sheriff currently sitting top of Group E after opening with a 3-0 win at Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia.

“We will face difficulties. We know it will be a difficult match,” he said.

Antony concluded by stating the importance of playing for United and he knows that the manager will demand nothing more than three points tonight.

“Everyone knows the greatness of Manchester United, so we will go out on the pitch and honor this important crest.”

Antony announced himself with a goal on his debut against Arsenal, joining Marcus Rashford to give United the lead on the day; he expects a similar impact tonight.

With tonight’s game sandwiched between two postponed Premier League games, Ten Hag is expected to go from strength to strength after resting the players in the first game, which ended in defeat.

This is United’s last outing of the month due to the postponed Leeds game next weekend and international games the following weekend.

Ten Hag will be hoping his side go into lockdown with their European campaign back on track before his side face the delicious Manchester derby on 2 October.
