A few days ago, WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury issued a deadline of today for Anthony Joshua to sign his deal, otherwise he said he would move on. Well, today is deadline day, and according to Anthony Joshua, he has every intention of signing the contract for a shot at Fury’s green belt; at this time, he is only under review with his legal team.
“It is not in my hands, it is in the legal team”, Joshua would publish on his social networks. “That’s why you hire lawyers. You know the history of boxing, make sure you understand the legal terms well. Of course, I will sign a contract. It’s just with a few lawyers right now.”
As far as Fury is concerned, however, he has previously said that he doesn’t think this fight should take this long to finalize and that he doesn’t feel the need to sit back and wait for a fighter who has lost three of his last five. fights, telling Sky Sports that Joshua is just a ‘guest’ at his party.
Realistically though, a Fury vs. Joshua fight is probably more commercially viable than most of his other options right now, so we’ll just have to see if Fury stands his ground and walks away from the table or if they’re able to get this fight over the line by the end of the year.
