Andy Robertson to miss Ajax clash in latest Liverpool injury blow – Liverpool FC

Andy Robertson will sit out Liverpool’s Champions League meeting with Ajax on Wednesday after sustaining a knee injury in the loss to Napoli last week.

Liverpool’s injury problems know no bounds, one step forward is always met with another step back and this time it is Robertson who dealt a blow to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The left-back has appeared in all eight games this season, including the Community Shield, but has seen his playing time controlled to some degree, only completing 90 minutes on three occasions.

But that hasn’t stopped injuries from hitting, and Echo was the first to report that Robertson will miss Wednesday’s game after “sustaining a suspected knee injury.”

The Scotsman was “at the AXA Training Center in Kirkby on Sunday in a knee brace”, and his left knee is said to have suffered the injury.

So Kostas Tsimikas is expected to make only his second start of the season as part of an XI that you suspect will see a number of changes following the Napoli performance.

The hope, of course, will be that Robertson’s injury is not serious, but Klopp is expected to offer a more detailed update when he appears to the press on Monday afternoon for his pre-Ajax press conference.

Liverpool had nine veteran players unavailable for the trip to Napoli last week and it may be the case that Fabio Carvalho’s name is changed to Robertson this time.

Caoimhin Kelleher, Ibrahima Konate, Calvin Ramsay, Jordan Henderson, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and Kaide Gordon remain out.

The Reds can’t take a break from injuries, but can only hope that the upcoming international break is a good time for Robertson and company to recover.
