Andy Cole asks ‘stop disrespecting my name’ after Nunez comparison

Darwin Núñez has enjoyed a mixed start to life with Liverpool, as many supporters have been pleased to see his performances, but will no doubt expect the Uruguayan to deliver more great moments and goals in the second part of the season.

A Twitter user used stats to show our number 27 has missed a lot of chances but is still playing well when comparing his numbers to Andy Cole’s and the former Manchester United striker responded to this comment:

‘Sorry Dave worded wrong or right…People need to stop disrespecting my name…because I don’t play the game I’m just a quiet guy getting on with life people think I can be disrespected to respect ♂️ ????????… Look at the numbers and compare them to anyone else’s…’

It seems this has all gotten a bit out of hand and the true meaning has been lost, the original Tweet was apparently intended to boost confidence and the perceived idea of the ability of the former Benfica striker who arrived at Anfield in the summer but when compared to the 51-year-old man is exploited.

Going on to list his accolades, it’s clear the former Newcastle United player was upset to see himself being promoted as a poor finisher and therefore felt the need to defend himself and his career.

To us, you can see that he thinks being compared to our new star striker is disrespectful, but hopefully we can take it as the retired professional who wants to uphold his honor rather than ridicule our man.

I thought this was supposed to be the season of goodwill for everyone!
