Wolves Transfer News: English Premier League club Wolves have identified England international Andy Caroll as their backup plan for the forward position.
Andrew Thomas Caroll, better known as Andy Caroll, began his football career at Newcastle United’s academy. Caroll progressed through the academy ranks and was promoted to the senior team. After a short loan spell with Preston North End, the striker finally cemented his place in the Magpies squad.
His early performances for the Magpies rewarded him when he made his international debut for England. Caroll participated in Euro 2012 and scored a goal in the tournament. He after spending five seasons with the Newcastle senior team before joining EPL club Liverpool as a replacement for Fernando Torres.
Liverpool spent a lot of money on English International, but it never lived up to its potential. Caroll eventually left Liverpool and signed for newly promoted West Ham United. Upon joining the Hammers, Caroll eventually regained his form. He scored more than 40 goals in his stay at the club. Caroll then returned to Newcastle for his second season, but his performance was nowhere near his before.

As confirmed by multiple reports, Wolves have agreed terms with Spanish international Diego Costa to join the club on a free transfer.
However, when Costa was unable to acquire the work permit, the Wolves began to think about him.
According to the English outlet, the Mirror Wolves are expected to offer Andy Caroll a one-year deal if they fail to acquire Diego Costa within the next 48 hours.
Post-Brexit, it has become more difficult for foreign signings to obtain a work permit to play in the EPL or EFL Championship. Players need to get 15 points to get their work permit. If they do not, they will be deemed ineligible to participate in the EPL and the Championship.
Players are judged on many points, including caps, minutes in domestic and continental tournaments, final league position, a continental record from their previous club, and league quality.
Wolves are currently confident that Costa will be able to get the permit once he appeals the decision.
However, they want to be prepared if the former Spanish international does not get a work permit. Therefore, they have targeted Andy Caroll.
This whole mess happened because Wolves’ new Austrian footballer Sasa Kaljdzic suffered an ACL injury in the first 45 minutes of his debut against Southampton.
