Amanda Serrano wants ‘last piece of puzzle’ before Katie Taylor rematch

Amanda Serrano wants all the featherweight marbles before throwing herself back at Katie Taylor.

The New York-based Puerto Rican added the IBF title to the WBO and WBC 126-pound titles already decorating her mantle with victory in her UK debut on Saturday.

‘The Real Deal’ defeated Sarah Mahfoud via three wide cards on the Joyce-Parker undercard in Manchester, and the subject of Taylor was raised after the win.

The seven-weight world champion revealed that she is still eager to rematch her historic Fight of the Year contender, but she has other matters to attend to first.

“I want the last piece of the puzzle to remain indisputable,” Serrano later declared. “Then the rematch with Katie Taylor.

“What better story than indisputable vs. indisputable? It will add to our two legacies.”

With only one title to secure, Serrano’s undisputed ambitions could fit right into the undisputed lightweight champion, Taylor’s repeated timeline.

The Bray fighter defends her four straps against Karen Elizabeth Carabaja on top of a bill that hosts Caoimhin Agyarko and Gary Cully fights on October 29.

Irish-boxing.com understands that Taylor’s team is still holding out hope that a rematch can be made at Croke Park in the spring or summer of next year, and when speaking to Boxing Ticket’s NI ahead of his most recent win, Serrano was open to that idea.

Serrano said she would “love” to fight at GAA headquarters and that a fight at the stadium would be “incredible” for both her and Ireland’s biggest sports star.

“That would be an amazing place for both of us,” he said.

“I hope I have won many Irish fans after the [first] fight, a lot of people from Ireland came up to me and said they are my fans. It would be an amazing night for both of them. I would love to fight there.”

If the rematch is made and Serrano comes to Ireland, the power puncher says she will come with the intention of knocking out the local favorite.

“You don’t lose, you learn and I learned what to do for the next one. I need to go out there and make sure I don’t leave it up to the judges. After my first fight I went and won 10 fights by KO and that’s the thing to do.”
