Youngster Amad Diallo’s loan spell from Manchester United took a much worse turn on Monday night, as he was forced to play for Sunderland under-21s against Leeds instead of the senior team.
Diallo played 90 minutes in the 1–0 loss.
The Ivorian moved to the Estadio de la Luz from United on a season-long loan in search of first-team minutes, but so far his time at the club has not gone according to plan.
Enduring a tough time so far, the youngster has made six appearances for Tony Mowbray’s side. Of his six appearances, he has only started one game: a drawless affair against Blackpool.
This is the 20-year-old’s second loan spell since joining the Atalanta Red Devils.
He spent part of last season in Scotland with Rangers, who were also a mixed bag. He appeared 13 times for the Rangers.
As a result of finding minutes with Sunderland’s senior team hard to come by, the prodigy was named in Graeme Murty’s under-21 squad.
