Allegri reveals what he told Rabiot amidst Man United talks -Juvefc.com

Last summer, Adrien Rabiot came close to joining Manchester United, and very few at Juventus were opposed to the idea at the time. After all, the Frenchman had not performed well for the vast majority of his first three campaigns in Turin.

Nonetheless, the 27-year-old still had an avid fan following at the club in the form of Max Allegri. The Juventus coach had always spoken highly of the former PSG midfielder.

This season, the coach’s faith is finally starting to pay off, and the player’s performances have improved tremendously.

Rabiot enjoyed a stellar performance last night against Inter in the Italian Derby. He dominated the play in the middle of the park and broke the tie with an icy finish.

Naturally, Allegri was full of praise for his pupil after the victory over Inter. The coach revealed what he told Rabiot when he was in talks with the Red Devils.

“I told Rabiot that if he was happy to go to Manchester, he could go. But he finally stayed and he is still an important player for us,” Allegri said in his post-match interview with DAZN via Calciomercato.

“I just reminded him that at Juventus he is highly respected and that I consider him a great player with a lot of room for improvement.

“Adrien has now reached the age of maturity. He put on an extraordinary match.”

Whether it was the coach’s persuasive words or Veronique Rabiot’s strong demands, the midfielder’s move to the Premier League fell apart at the last moment.
