Things have moved so quickly since Liverpool’s initial contact about a deal to sign Arthur that little has been said about his quality, but Alisson is convinced.
Following a hamstring injury that will keep Jordan Henderson out until after the international break in September, an agreement has been reached with Juventus on his No. 5.
Arthur joined Liverpool on a season-long loan on deadline day, with a purchase option negotiated in the package worth around £32m.
The 26-year-old was on the bench for the Merseyside derby but was never expected to step onto the pitch, though it now seems only a matter of time before Jurgen Klopp turns to his new signing.
Despite playing for both Barcelona and Juventus, Arthur remains an unknown among many fans, but in his pre-Napoli press conference, Alisson was full of praise for his compatriot.
“Everything went so fast that I only spoke to him the day he came to Liverpool, and then on the training ground,” he revealed.
“He’s an amazing guy. You will see more about him when you see him in the field.
“He is a fantastic player, I hope he is really fit and settles in as soon as possible.
“We know that it is not easy to change from one country to another. He made the same move as him, coming from Italian football.
“I know there are some differences, but in the end football is the same.
“With his qualities and his attitude and desire, he can overcome any of these little problems.
“I really think he can bring a lot of quality to the team and he’s going to do well.”
Alisson and Arthur have played together 13 times for Brazil, but the midfielder’s lack of consistency at Juventus has put him out of contention under Tite in recent years.
However, he earned a call-up to the squad for World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia in March, and he hopes to resurrect his career while at Anfield.
Although widely considered a stopgap signing at Liverpool, if he can live up to Alisson’s praise, there’s a chance Arthur could convince Klopp he’s worthy of a long-term role.
“He’s a really talented player, really top quality, Brazilian way of playing,” the goalkeeper told the club’s official website.
“[He is] a player who likes to have the ball, good quality in the passes, he can break lines with the passes, long balls too, long passes also with quality.
“So I think he brings even more quality to our team and he likes to play the way we play.
“Obviously he needs a bit of time to adjust to the Premier League, to the pace of the game.
“But I am sure that with the team helping him, he will adapt very quickly.”
