Alex Telles to avoid surgery on injured knee – Man United News And Transfer News

Alex Telles is ready to avoid knee surgery after the injury he suffered with Brazil in the World Cup.

As reported by Sport Witness, Telles will begin his rehabilitation without the need for an operation.

The Manchester United left-back is currently on loan at Spanish side Sevilla and is expected to return to training in February.

The news will come as a relief to Telles, who would have feared the worst due to the diagnosis making it sound like he may have been facing an extended period on the sidelines.

Sevilla’s medical team reported “grade II-III partial rupture of the internal lateral ligament, plus partial involvement of the posterior cruciate ligament of the right knee.”

Luckily for the left back, however, he will be able to return without going under the knife and risk further complications.

The untimely injury put an end to hopes of appearing in the World Cup in his native Brazil, whose campaign ended yesterday in a surprising way at the hands of Croatia.

Telles has featured in most of Sevilla’s matches this season, racking up thirteen appearances in total.

The Brazilian signed deadline day for United in the summer of 2020, but despite flashes of quality, he has been unable to recreate the form he consistently displayed at Porto.

His best moment in a United shirt came in the Champions League comeback, against Villarreal at Old Trafford.

Telles hit a volley from 25 yards to ignite the comeback. It was a goal that earned him Goal of the Month for United and a place in the top 10 goals of the tournament overall, as voted by UEFA.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Telles, but with Luke Shaw thriving with Erik Ten Hag and Tyrell Malacia also performing well, it’s hard to see a way back for him in the Theater of Dreams.

However, we wish him the best in his recovery and hope he is back to full fitness in time to make an impact for Sevilla in the latter stages of the season.
