Alessia Russo wins Man United Player of the Month award but exit rumours continue – Man United News And Transfer News

Alessia Russo has been named Player of the Month for November by the fans.

Russo scored twice in two appearances, including the stoppage-time winner against Arsenal at the Emirates, in front of more than 40,000 fans.

Earlier in the month, United hosted reigning champions Chelsea at the Leigh Sports Village in front of a club-record attendance at that ground of over 6,000.

Although the Blues came out on top, beating United 3-1, it was Russo who gave the Reds a fighting chance to get a goal back when they were 2-0 down.

Despite the home defeat, United dusted themselves off and traveled to London to face Arsenal a couple of weeks later and pulled off a great comeback late on to beat the Gunners 3-2.

Russo edged out the likes of Brighton’s Danielle Carter, Aston Villa’s Rachel Daly, Man City’s Khadija Shaw, former Red Lauren James and Chelsea teammate Sam Kerr for the award.

He also had a strong performance in December, scoring in United’s 5-0 win at Old Trafford against Villa and causing trouble for City in the Manchester derby.

However, it’s not all good news for the Reds as after Russo’s latest achievement, rumors about his departure from the club have been revived.

Reports suggest that Real Madrid have joined the race to sign the United and Lionesses star.

This adds to the rumors that Olympique Lyonnais are also interested in signing the 23-year-old.

A January transfer is unlikely to happen and Marc Skinner is keen to keep the striker, but Russo has been slow to sign a new contract with the Reds.

Winning a place in next year’s Champions League, should United secure a top-three finish, is expected to be enough to keep Russo, a lifelong United supporter, at the club.
