Jurgen Klopp has been in the news lately and before his actions against Manchester City on Sunday, the German manager’s comments about state-funded clubs were a talking point in the football world.
Speaking before the Man City match last weekend, Klopp stated that Liverpool cannot compete with clubs financially backed by states, which includes the Manchester club.
Klopp declared through the Liverpool Echo: “Nobody can compete with City.
“You have the best team in the world and you put in the best striker on the market. It doesn’t matter what it costs.
“Liverpool cannot act like them. It’s not possible, it’s not possible.”
The Liverpool boss made a clear reference to Erling Haaland in his comments and talkSPORT expert Gabby Agbonlahor believes the Norwegian striker is the reason Klopp is frustrated this season.

Agbonlahor believes Haaland is the reason Klopp is frustrated.
Since joining from Borussia Dortmund this summer, Haaland has been in sensational form for Manchester City and has already scored 20 goals in 14 games in all competitions this season.
Agbonlahor believes the striker is the root of Klopp’s visible frustration this season, with the former footballer stating on talkSPORT:
“When you look at him, maybe he is frustrated by how well Haaland has done because if you look at both teams, Liverpool have been fighting Manchester City, going toe-to-toe with Manchester City for the last three or four seasons.
“In the summer, Haaland has come to City and Núñez has gone to Liverpool, but it is not that City has gone out to buy more players.
“I look at it and think, is it more Klopp’s frustration with how well Haaland has done and what Núñez has not done?”
