‘Advanced talks…’ – Reliable journo drops transfer update as LFC keep tabs on Bellingham alternative

Liverpool have no doubt resigned themselves to the increasingly clear reality that Enzo Fernández will not be destined to wear the famous red shirt at Anfield.

Chelsea, as things currently stand, seem ready to welcome the coveted World Cup winner to the Premier League and are reportedly in “advanced talks” with Benfica, according to a tweet from Ben Jacobs. from CBS Sports.

With the Reds reportedly putting all their eggs in one basket with Jude Bellingham (valued at €150m (£132.6m) in the summer), the reluctance to throw his hat into the ring for a player who is on command of a launch clause worth 120 million euros is understandable.

However, with the prospect of Champions League football next season being accompanied by a gigantic question mark in light of our inconsistent form in the English top flight, it seems inconceivable that we would be prepared to wait until summer before to get at least one new midfielder.

To that end, we might sound out Gladbach’s Manu Kone, who we’ve been linked with before and remain ‘well informed’ according to a tweet from Fabrizio Romano.

It remains to be seen if the midfielder, seen as a potential alternative to Bellingham when it comes to some metrics (Liverpool.com), falls into the category of an affordable option who won’t hamper our summer business.

HITC has reported that the 21-year-old was valued at £30m (although “expected to rise”), which in theory may be achievable.
