Aaron Wan-Bissaka mulling over leaving Manchester United at the end of the season – Man United News And Transfer News

Manchester United are set for an action-packed week with a delicious clash against Barcelona in the Europa League ahead of the Carabao Cup final at the weekend.

Erik ten Hag has completely transformed the fortunes of the club since last season and the team is well on its way to exceed all the expectations placed on them at the start of the season.

The Dutchman has had to deal with a weak squad and previously underperforming stars, but it’s safe to say he has risen to those challenges with enthusiasm.

The resurgence of AWB

In the first half of the campaign, United played with just one right-back, Diogo Dalot, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka apparently set to leave in January.

Multiple reports surfaced indicating that former club Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United were interested in the 25-year-old.

But the Dutch coach gave the former Águilas defender the opportunity after the World Cup break due to an injury suffered by the young Portuguese.

And Wan-Bissaka seized those opportunities with both hands, starting seven straight times in the Premier League and impressing in big games against Manchester City and Barcelona.

Those rumors have died down somewhat, but according to Football Insider, the England under-21 international is unhappy with his backup role at United and wants to be the main man next season.

Ten Hag is also said to be open to recruiting a more attacking full-back and Wan-Bissaka is now considering leaving the Red Devils in a bid to find the right club.

AWB not happy with endorsement role

“But Man United are exploring signing another right-back this summer, and it is believed that they are open to hearing offers for Wan-Bissaka if another option presents itself.

“The former Palace star is unwilling to be a backup option in the future and is considering a possible departure,” the report added.

His defensive strengths have been there for all to see and while Ten Hag has definitely upped his attacking game, there are better options on the market.

Wan-Bissaka is out of contract in less than 18 months, but the Old Trafford club still have the option to extend his contract for a further year to protect his value.

The full-back joined United from Palace for £45m in 2019 and the Reds will have to take a huge hit if they sell him as no club will come close to matching that valuation.
