With Francis Ngannou set to make his next appearance in the boxing ring when he takes on Anthony Joshua, both fighters appeared for an opening press conference where Ngannou says he is even more focused for this fight than his last one against Tyson. Rage.
“I’ve been sitting here listening to people talk and even Eddie praising me, which I appreciate, but at the same time I’m not sure if he’s honest or he just wants to make me sleep with his guy, which isn’t going to happen.” Ngannou said. “I’m just a beginner who is going to train very hard and do everything possible to become the underdog and win the fight.
“So I don’t take my last fight as a reference and think that I will achieve it, that I will achieve everything. I know exactly where I am, I’m just a beginner. I’m definitely going to get better and, yes, I’m going to get better and better.
“Yes, the fight with Tyson Fury was great, it was incredible, but that is already a thing of the past and I have a new challenge in front of me that I take even more seriously than before because now I think there is something more at stake than probably the indisputable.
“So let’s see. Maybe I’ll do something no one has done before and I really believe I have the tools to do it, starting with a win over AJ on March 8 in Riyadh, which is a great fight. It’s not easy, but it is possible.
“I heard he doesn’t have a chin. I don’t know if it’s true or not, we’re going to find out. I hope to have the opportunity to try it. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
