Super featherweight Moussa Gholam of Morocco and Spain stopped Lunga Sitemela at 1:23 of the fourth round Saturday night in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
In the main event, super featherweight Moussa Gholam, 21-1 (13), defeated “Baby” Lunga Sitemela, 15-2 (9) at 1:23 of the fourth round of the scheduled ten rounds.
In the first round, Sitemela was the aggressor. Midway through the round, Gholam landed a flurry of punches to Sitemela’s chin. Sitemela recovered well in the rest of the round.
In the final forty seconds of the second round, Gholam landed three right punches, knocking out Sitemela’s microphone. In the final seconds, Sitemela shook Gholam on the chin as he rang the bell, causing him to stagger back toward his corner.
There was swelling around Gholam’s right eye in the corner. In the fourth round, Gholam landed a left hand to the ribs, knocking Sitemela down as referee David Irving called out the count of 8. Upon getting up, referee Irving waved it off.
Lightweight Bader “The Master” Samreen, 10-0 (8), won a majority decision over Jeff “Jeffy” Ofori, 13-5-2 (4), in ten solid rounds.
In the third round, a left hand to Samreen’s nose made Ofori bleed. In the fourth round, Ofori recovered well enough to take the round.
In the sixth round, Ofori’s blood began to flow again for Samreen’s rights. In the eighth round, Samreen developed swelling under his right eye.
In the last minute of the ninth round, both men got right hands with a stronger blow from Ofori. In the last twenty seconds, a Samreen left hook to the chin nearly floored Ofori.
In the tenth and final round, both men had their moments, with Ofori finishing him off with a left hook to the chin.
The scores were 95-95 and 96-94 twice. The referee was David Irving.
In the co-main event, lightweight Fahad Al-Bloushi, 13-1 (3), stopped Milner Antonio Marcano, 24-13 (20), after six rounds of the scheduled ten.
In the first four rounds, Marcano, the aggressor like Al-Bloushi, counterattacked to the body, taking all three rounds.
In the sixth round, Al-Bloushi dropped Marcano, who had turned southpaw, with a left hook to the ribs for a count of 8. Marcano fought back the rest of the way. At the end of the round, Marcano’s corner stopped the fight.
Heavyweight southpaw Mohammed “The Destroyer” Bekdash, 27-0 (23), won a close decision over Shaban “Jongo Jongo” Hamadi Jongo, 11-4-2 (10) in eight rounds.
In the first three rounds, Bekdash had the advantage. In the fifth round, Jongo landed a right hand to the head and Bekdash’s left eye swelled badly.
At the end of the round, the ring doctor checked the eye. In the sixth round, Jongo’s rights won him the round.
In the eighth and final round, with just over a minute left, Bekdash rocked Jongo with a counter to the chin.
The scores were 78-74 and 77-75 twice.
