Every national championship fight will be broadcast live in an exciting new partnership between the IABA, StreamSport.ie and JW Player, starting today.
This is an important step for the visibility of Ireland’s most successful sport and an important commercial collaboration for the IABA, as we approach a period of growth leading up to Paris 2024.
StreamSport.ie is an Irish company based in Limerick. It is a live streaming partner of organizations such as Connacht Rugby, Swin Ireland, Munster GAA, and is a live streaming and content partner of Examiner Sport, in association with JWP Player. JWP’s 40,000 customers generate 8 billion video impressions per month and 5 billion minutes of video viewed per month—one of the fastest-growing SaaS companies in the world.
John Nangle, interim chief executive of the IABA, says: “This is a significant development for the IABA and for boxers, clubs, coaches and their families across the association. It ensures that our sport, Ireland’s most successful Olympic sport, has high visibility outside the National Stadium. The Home of Irish Boxing will always be the best place to watch the incredible talent of IABA boxers, but we recognize that family, friends and club mates at home and abroad want to support their boxer. Our exciting partnership with StreamSport.ie and JW Player allows them to do this. From a commercial perspective, this is an important step for the FIA and heralds the first of a series of governance, communication and visibility milestones in 2024.”
StreamSport.ie CEO Raffael Rocca says: “We are absolutely delighted, with JW Player, to be partnering with the IABA to bring the best of boxing to fans around the world. There is a huge market for Irish boxing and this will only grow as we get closer to Paris. “We are excited to expand our client list into a new sport and play a key role in platforming Ireland’s most successful Olympic sport.”
Ciara Plunkett, FIA Communications Officer says “We have seen a significant 29% growth in our cross-platform social media following over the last 2 years. In parallel, the Irish boxing family has grown in clubs across the association, and the Irish boxing diaspora is increasingly hungry for news about emerging boxing talent at home. As we pass the 200 days until Paris 2024, with 5 boxers already qualified, our partnership with StreamSport.ie and JW Player will allow us to raise the profile of Ireland’s most successful Olympic sport and raise the profile of Irish boxing’s Olympic future. Champions of the world, of Europe and of the Commonwealth.”
The first competition broadcast on SportSport.ie and JW Player will be the 2024 U18 National Championships, starting on Friday at 6pm. PPV access is competitively priced at E8 per boxing day. As the service develops, the IABA will introduce weekend, competition and season passes. In recognition of the importance of footage in performance analysis for boxers, coaches and clubs, footage will be transferred to the IABA YouTube channel 3 days after the conclusion of the respective card.
