Kylian Mbappe wage demands should finally rule out Liverpool transfer rumours – Liverpool FC

If it really needed to be confirmed, the current rumors linking Liverpool with Kylian Mbappé will remain just that, as evidenced by the salary demands for his next club.

Since their failed attempt to sign Mbappé from Monaco in 2017, the Reds have been touted with renewed moves for a player who never seems happy at PSG.

The 25-year-old, undoubtedly one of the best strikers in world football, appears to be embroiled in a saga over his future in every transfer market.

Liverpool always participate alongside Real Madrid, but Mbappé has invariably stayed in Paris and, most recently, signed a new contract with PSG last year.

That deal is set to expire this summer, so the player will be able to agree pre-contract terms on a free transfer starting this month.

But although French journalist Julien Laurens told BBC Radio 5 Live this week that Mbappé “really likes” Liverpool, and L’Equipe claimed their efforts to sign him years ago were “never forgotten”, a move to Anfield is not in the cards. in the cards.

According to the Telegraph’s Jason Burt, sources close to Mbappé claim that he “expects a salary of £64.5m a year after tax.”

“That’s £1.24m a week,” explains Burt, underlining why Liverpool won’t be in the running.

Mohamed Salah is currently Liverpool’s highest earner, earning £350,000 a week, almost four times less than what Mbappe reportedly demands.

But salaries are normally reported as pre-tax figures and Salah’s take-home pay would therefore be considerably less than £350,000 a week.

According to Burt, Mbappé has “genuine affection” for Liverpool because his mother and agent, Fayza Lamari, is an ardent supporter of the club.

“But if there was any chance of a deal, it would require a lot of working parts to connect them and probably, not least, the departure of Mohamed Salah to Saudi Arabia to help finance it,” he adds.

Burt concludes: “Therefore, there is no indication, at this time, that any club beyond PSG or Real Madrid will sign Mbappé.

“His next contract, given his age, will clearly be the most important and hopefully we will know soon in which direction this saga will end.”

Case closed? Let’s hope so, it’s exhausting.
