The Dubai Diaries | Arseblog … an Arsenal blog

Below follows a series of posts, commissioned exclusively by Arseblog, from the men’s first team detailing warm weather training and other activities in Dubai.

David Rayá

It’s nice here. I spent some time with Aaron and Karl Hein. I couldn’t believe they had an entire mall dedicated to goalie gloves. What world.

The training was good. However, Iñaki was in a bit of a mood. I don’t think he likes it when Aaron does the Updog thing. The session ended badly, someone mentioned Steve Round and he lost his mind.

He told us: “Do you think I’m in danger? I am the danger. Don’t forget I once convinced this club to buy a 5’9 Icelandic lad with hands like rotten herring. “I can do it again and you will all pay the price.”

Aaron just laughed and then went on a podcast with some cheeky guys who play competitive frisbee.

It’s good. I am happy.

I like the sun. Not The Sun, obviously. That’s terrible, but the sun itself is very good. Of all the giant fireballs in the sky, this is the best, in my opinion.

If you asked me why, in some sort of post-match interview, I’d say, “I don’t know, I just like it.”

Some guys worry a little about my tan, Zinchenko in particular, but I don’t really pay much attention to them. If I wanted to look like an over-bleached sheet hanging on a clothesline, I could, but I don’t.

I’m thinking about getting a pirate earring during my free time. Aaron told me they have an entire mall dedicated to pirate earrings. It’s just down the street from the Glove District.

Yes, it’s amazing to be here. I have learned a lot since I arrived. I’m learning different ways to go out, to be with the kids, to run around the training field, to kick the ball, it’s really incredible.

I don’t look at the price of the 7 star hotel we stayed at, that has nothing to do with me. It’s just another level. I was impressed. I am dumbfounded. I can’t believe how much I learn. Even in the time it has taken me to write this post I have learned 19 new things. I have always remembered something I learned just five minutes ago but since then I have learned a lot more.

I thirst for knowledge. So much so that after I retire I am thinking of going back to study sculpture at St Martin’s College.

Emile Smith-Rowe

I arrived to find the snack cabinet in my room locked. What is that about?!

I had a nice walk around the hotel complex. I saw the Gaffer. He said ‘Good morning!’, but he didn’t answer. You must not have heard me.

FREE VACATION!!!!!

Martin Odegaard

I talked to the boss about how the forwards aren’t delivering right now, so I decided to plan an activity with all of them to lift their spirits. A little togetherness and so on. I couldn’t have been more precise about where and when we were going to meet, but everyone arrived at different times, some early, some late.

I’m a little bit worried.

Kai Havertz

I continue to thank Mikel Arteta and Edu for rescuing me from that horrible place. I feel bad for some of my friends who are still there, but now I have to think about myself. I can focus on what really matters: my donkey sanctuary.

We got a call to go to a photo shoot at 4 p.m.

Eddie Nketiah

Of course it’s good to be here with the boys and we’ll all do our best every chance we get. That’s what being at a football club like Arsenal is all about. I got a memo from Albert Stuivenberg to be down to catch a bus to the training ground.

Lost.

Leandro Trossard

I rushed back to my room after training and heard the phone in my room ringing. I was expecting a very important call.

Gabriel Martinelli

I really enjoyed training. I’m working on my finishing because I know I need to score more goals. Stu took a nice photo of me, Big Gabi and Midi-Gabi. I posted it on Instagram with the title: The Three Friends, but I wish there was a version in another language because it would probably sound better.

I chatted with Ben White at the pool. She had never seen human mahogany before. It’s very impressive, but I left it at that. He seemed very serious about the whole thing.

I decided to go back to my room and just as I reached the lobby, the elevator arrived. I ran to get in but, you know, I missed it.

Gabriel Jesus

Everything was going well until I slipped in the pool and hurt my knee. I don’t know what Ben White meant by ‘Oops, that’s my Ambre Solaire’, but I’m sure everything will be fine.

I went down to the conference room to chat one on one with personal trainer Carlos Cuesta.

He missed it.

Hey… maybe that’s what’s going wrong…

Bukayo Saka

The plane flew. He drove the train from the airport. He carried all the bags onto the team coach. I downloaded them and delivered them to each room. Take out the cones to train. I picked up the cones. I sent a WhatsApp to Ryo Miyaichi. It was before my time, but his love of cones is legendary. At the training ground, the boss has inspirational quotes on the walls, and his is my favorite: If you love football as much as I love cones, you will make it.

I’m not 100% sure about that, but who am I to argue?

He prepared dinner for the entire travel group. They cleaned the tables. She washed the dishes. Dessert prepared and served. Unfortunately, when making a Crème Brûlée there is a very short period of time to ensure it sets perfectly.
