“Hate it or love it, I’m that guy,” welterweight conqueror Terence Crawford said in a lengthy Twitter thread Wednesday. “Every time a fighter opens, he says my name, so what does that tell you?” Crawford went on to address several arguments and claims that have been made for and/or against him. In fact, since he became the undisputed welterweight world champion late last summer, Crawford has still received criticism from some on the Internet and beyond. “I wish I could fight more than once a year,” he wrote, “but these guys have been running and hiding for years. Boxing is not like it used to be for me when everyone was fighting each other… I live in the gym. But my whole career these fighters have been running after people saying I’m on the wrong side of the street, call this guy, call that guy! Make it make sense.”
Crawford went on to argue that he got to the top the old-fashioned way, through hard work and sacrifice. “I fought anyone and everyone who was put on my table,” she said. “I never turned down a fight in my life. Even if he was notified late, gaining weight. Short fighters, tall fighters, strong fighters, fast fighters, boxers, wrestlers, etc., I fought them all.” And Errol Spence’s eye problem? “Last I can remember,” Crawford said, “they definitely get our eyes checked before every fight, like I say. Any boxer would know that. But casual fans will say and make up anything.”
The wrestler known as “Bud” then targeted potential high-level competitors Jaron Ennis and Teofimo Lopez. “As I said before, @JaronEnnis had two opportunities to fight me. We are talking about a boy who is still fighting in the theater. Make it make sense,” he said again. “And @TeofimoLopez you better worry about the little ones up your butt in your weight class. It’s crazy every time I see your hoe ass, you don’t even look my way, but when you’re in front of a camera you have a lot to say. You are a faggot. Crawford then took another dig at Lopez. “Hello @TeofimoLopez,” Crawford wrote, “no, good luck in your fight. Focus on him because he can fight and I don’t want you to look bad worrying about me when you have other problems on your hands.”
Crawford also added that he had medical issues, as did Lopez, Spence and other high-profile fighters. “Yes,” he said, “I need 3 surgeries that I haven’t had, does that also leave me disabled?
