Patience is not a virtue Ruadhan Farrell has these days.
The Belfast fighter wants to return immediately to a big fight and wants it to be known that he is willing to fight.
Having drawn Gerard Hughes in an Irish Boxing Awards National Fight of the Year-nominated clash on December 2’s Conlan – Gill undercard, the IGB super bantamweight has a big fight ready to go.
However, it has problems with waiting!
With Padraig McCrory’s mentor Hughes changing trainers and gyms, teaming up with Pete Taylor in Dublin, the 26-year-old will most likely be looking for a fight to acclimatise before entering what looks to be the perfect fight for the BUI Celtic title.
The Belfast man does not want to follow the same process. ‘Rudy’ wants to get straight into a big fight.
“I’m looking for a big fight this year at super bantamweight, if it’s not Gerard Hughes I’ll pick whoever I want,” he tells Irish-boxing.com.
“I would like to try and get the BBBofC Celtic title or the Irish title. I want big fights,” he adds before revealing that he also aspires to front a bill in Belfast.
“I think I’m getting better with every fight. I’m getting fitter and stronger and have acclimatised to the professional game. I want to headline a little show this year. “That would be a dream come true.”
When pressed about a rematch with Hughes, he added: “I haven’t heard anything. I’ve been asking for it but he’ll probably have a fight back. I want big fights, screw them, jounreyman get their title season on track for me.”
