Arsecast Extra Episode 562 – 08.01.2024

Welcome to another Arsecast Extra, the Arsenal podcast, with me and James from @gunnerblog.

In this episode we remember the 2-0 defeat in the third round of the FA Cup against Liverpool. We analyze a first half in which Arsenal played well and did many things well, but failed to take advantage of the chances they created. It’s a familiar theme, and one that came back to haunt us when late goals from the Mugsmashers again condemned us to an FA Cup exit at a frustratingly early stage. We chatted about how Arsenal didn’t make the most of the first half, examined the opportunities we could have had better, before a much more even second half. There is discussion about substitutes and the timing of their arrival, the goals we conceded and the big problem that is so obvious to everyone: but is it ‘Buy a striker’? Too simplistic a solution in January? Then we have questions about Emile Smith Rowe, set piece defense, xG variation, Eddie Nketiah and much more.
