Eddie Howe slammed for embarrassing comments made after Liverpool defeat

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has been heavily criticized by fans for making comments following the defeat to Liverpool.

The Magpies traveled to Anfield on Monday night to take on league leaders Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s men managed to beat Newcastle in a controversial match, with a double from Mo Salah and goals from Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo.

Alexander Isak and Sven Botman put their names on the scoreboard for the visitors.

Howe felt Newcastle were unlucky as they were awarded two penalties and thought they should have been awarded their own penalty.

Howe told Sky Sports:

“Many things happened. Action packed game. We are disappointed with the way we defended.

“I didn’t think the second was a penalty. And I thought Sean Longstaff’s before that was.

“It shouldn’t happen. Martin has withdrawn his hand. He took two steps before going down. For me it is not a penalty. Even in the first one, contact was minimal. “We feel very harmed.”

He continued: “You have to have the mentality that you create your luck. Feeling sorry for yourself never has any positive results.

“The players gave everything. I support the quality of the group. “Over time we will get the results we need.”
