Barcelona are looking to land controversial Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood and are willing to do everything they can to get him.
According to The Sun, the Catalan giants are willing to pay £40m to acquire the 22-year-old’s services.
The England international has adapted very well to Spanish football and is surely uprooting trees in Getafe.
The Madrid team’s coach, José Bordalás, has always been very complimentary of the forward and stated that the team is “happy and happy” with how the loan has gone so far.
The striker has played 14 games and created 16 chances so far. He has also been productive, as he scored three goals and assisted four more for the Spanish team.
The Peoples Person recently reported that Getafe are so impressed with the attacker that they want to break their transfer record and sign him.
However, other top Spanish teams such as Barcelona, Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and Atlético de Madrid are also apparently circling.
The Sun has added a new layer of interest to the story by boldly claiming that “Barcelona are set to offer Mason Greenwood Lionel Messi’s iconic number 10 shirt as part of a £40million transfer deal over the summer.”
“Now Barcelona want to use him to help attract Bradford-born Greenwood to the Camp Nou.”
Interestingly, the article also claims that the player still hopes to one day return to Old Trafford, but they admit this is unlikely.
United academy graduate Ravel Morrison has also recently supported a possible return for Greenwood to the Red Devils and until this is confirmed one way or another, there will be constant speculation on the subject.
What is certain is that, if Greenwood is not welcomed back into the club, it would surely be difficult to turn down the number ten shirt at one of the biggest clubs in world football.
