It’s time to recap Daniel Dubois vs. Jarrell Miller and Dmitry Bivol vs. Lyndon Arthur.

Daniel Dubois shows his heart

Bivol falls, sails to victory over Arthur

In a fight for the WBA light heavyweight championship, Dmitry Bivol (22-0. 11 KOs) raised his hand once again when he won a unanimous decision over Lyndon Arthur (23-2, 16 KOs). Scores were 120-107 across the board.

Both men tried to establish their jab early on. Bivol would press on while Arthur was content to remain on the defensive. A single combination from the WBA champion was the highlight of this round.

Bivol had more success in the second round as he began landing more combinations, something he repeated in the third. Every time Bivol released his lands, he found Arthur almost at will, who struggled to defend himself against the combinations.

The Brit was not particularly active: he chose to stay against the ropes and not throw or land many punches. On the other hand, Bivol continued to advance and made sure not to neglect the body. He would occasionally fire off a blast that Arthur had trouble defending against.

In the last ten seconds of the eleventh round, Arthur went down with a left hook to the body. Bivol came out firing in the twelfth but could not stop his opponent. Arthur remained on his feet despite another late barrage of punches from the WBA champion. Despite showing more offensive intent than usual, Bivol won by unanimous decision.

Dubois wears down Miller and finally stops him

It took a while but Daniel Dubois (20-2, 19 KOs) finally stopped Jarrell Miller (26-1-1. 22 KOs) in their 10-round heavyweight clash. The stoppage time was 2:52 of the tenth round.

In the first round, Miller chased the Brit around the ring. Dubois was the faster of the two and landed several blows that got no response from the American. This remained the case for most of the second round. Miller began to open up but was not successful until the final 20 seconds of the round. In that part of the fight, both heavyweights hit each other with hard uppercuts.

“Big Baby” mainly threw punches at his opponent, missing many. Dubois’ strategy was to box off the back foot, but he also traded shots with Miller. His numerous body blows also seemed to impact Miller. He became more and more tired as the fight progressed. Dubois did not appear to be affected by anything the American landed.

The accumulation of blows finally rewarded Dubois with the knockout. Miller continued to take clean hits with aerial strikes, and an eventual flurry of punches forced referee Michael Alexander to intervene and dismiss the fight. Before the fight, Frank Warren He spoke about the doubts that exist towards “Dynamite” regarding his commitment. Dubois spoke after the fight and exclaimed: “I showed my heart.
