Michael Owen criticized Villa’s £28million takeover for his sloppy passing that allowed Manchester United to score the first goal of the game.
Diego Carlos played a role in Aston Villa’s inability to keep the ball, which was one of the main causes of their collapse at Old Trafford last night.
Owen does not believe Emery’s system is the problem with conceding goals and instead blames individuals for Man Utd’s defeat.
“I don’t think it’s going to change because, take the first goal, for example,” Owen said. “He won’t think that’s a tactical problem.
“Their centre-back gave the ball away. You just can’t do that. That’s what you’ll get out of this. Don’t give the ball away and we won’t concede that goal. Nothing to do with the system is what you might think.
“I think he will continue doing what he is doing. They are having a fantastic season. Brilliant in the first half. Then he started the car and it was difficult to stop him.”
