This assist earned him promotion to Recife at LFA 143 and the opportunity to win the title. López won the LFA gold medal with a quick victory over local Pernambuco star Wilyanedson Paiva. The victory earned Lopez an invitation to compete on Dana White’s Contender Series last summer, but he was unable to secure a contract with the UFC. The 30-year-old will now look to defend his title and seize the opportunity to headline his country’s first LFA event in 2024.

The proud Paranaense has now moved from the city of Rio de Janeiro to Niterói, located on the other side of Guanabara Bay.
