Antony wins March goal of the month for Manchester United – Man United News And Transfer News

14

Antony has earned a second straight Goal of the Month after beating Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford in a fan-voted poll.

The goal came in United’s 4-1 win over Real Betis when Antony made it 2-1 against the Reds.

It was a signature left-footed shot from the Brazilian, who topped the list when he found the top corner to restore the Reds’ lead.

Antony’s strike received 23% of the vote and Marcus Rashford’s strike in the second leg received 22% of the vote.

Garnacho’s winning goal against West Ham in the FA Cup was also only a fraction behind in the poll, receiving 21% of the vote.

There were two other nominations that reached double figures, another of Marcus Rashford’s goals, the first against Real Betis and Sabitzer’s against Fulham.

It is the fourth time this season that Antony has won the goal of the month.

He first won in September with his debut goal for the club. He latched on to a clever through ball from Marcus Rashford, kept his composure and shot the Reds into an early lead against Arsenal.

In October, his goal against City took the award despite the final result, which saw United lose 6–3.

Then, in February, he won the award again for his goal against Barcelona that sent United to the last 16 of the Europa League. He made a precise effort in the bottom corner, putting the Reds ahead in the second leg.

Antony has come under scrutiny in recent weeks for his inability to strike off his right foot, making cutting to the inside and left all the more inevitable for his opponents to protect themselves.

However, it hasn’t stopped Antony from scoring some fabulous and crucial goals for United.
