Potter makes Klopp admission with pressure mounting on Chelsea boss

The pressure continues to mount on Graham Potter after Chelsea lost 2-0 to Spurs at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today.

The result means the Blues have won just two of their last 15 games (in all competitions) and leaves them 10th in the table and 14 points out of the Champions League places.

Speaking after the game, the former Brighton manager admitted that the results are not “good enough” for the Stamford Bridge side at the moment and compared their situation to that of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

“If the results aren’t good enough, which they aren’t at the moment, you can’t rely on support forever, that’s for sure,” Potter said (as quoted by BBC Sport).

“I take full responsibility for those results and it’s not good enough for Chelsea. We want to improve it, absolutely. My job is to keep going, keep working with the team to try to change the moment. The players are hurt. It’s a difficult time for us.”

“We were talking before the game about watching All or Nothing and Arsenal two years after Mikel. [Arteta] queen, he’s close to being fired, people want him out and he’s a mess.

“Obviously things have changed a bit now, but that’s the way it is. look at jurgen’s [Klopp] situation. He hasn’t gotten the results and all of a sudden people want him out. That’s the nature of football.”

Both Chelsea and Liverpool are nowhere near where they would like to be at this stage of the Premier League season and will also have to come from behind in the second leg of their respective Champions League round of 16 next month.

Klopp’s side missed out on the title last season by a single point, while the Blues finished the campaign in third place (albeit 18 points behind us), but both sides are fighting for consistency this time around.

Despite our struggles, no sane Liverpool supporter is calling for our German tactician to be sacked and we believe he has what it takes to get us back to competing at the top once more in the near future.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has spent over £500m this season and tonight’s reports suggest the American remains patient with Potter despite poor results of late.

It seems the 41-year-old is trying to take the pressure off himself by talking about Klopp and Mikel Arteta and thus hinting that he must be given time.
