Apple TV+ may add Pac-12 football to streaming service

Major League Soccer fans may be pleased to know that Apple TV+ is actively looking to become the home of Pac-12 soccer in the near future.

According to the New York Post, the newspaper reports that Apple TV+ has emerged as the favorite to acquire the rights to Pac-12 football.

It is reported that with ESPN, Fox Sports and Amazon Prime Video undecided on the league, Apple could end up streaming the games.

On-Air Announcer Agreement

The report also claims that Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff may soon pitch Apple as a possible streaming platform for universities.

The terms of the deal and whether the universities would be interested in the full broadcast deal are unclear.

Furthermore, it also remains to be seen whether the agreement would be good enough to prevent participating schools from moving to other conferences.

Apple MLS Rights

Apple TV+ had recently started streaming live baseball games on Friday nights.

Apple TV had acquired the rights to broadcast MLS starting this season, as the tech giant reportedly paid $2.5 billion to show every MLS game around the world for the next 10 years as part of a global deal. .

This season marks the first of MLS’s 10-year partnership with Apple.

MLS Season Pass

The MLS Season Pass is available to fans for $99/year as an all-inclusive package with detailed coverage including pre- and post-game league shows.

We also previously reported that DirecTV will cover the action of the new MLS season at 300,000 locations, including several retail outlets, so fans can catch action from their favorite teams.

It is believed that a similar all-in deal could be plausible with the Pac-12.

If Apple signs the deal with the Pac-12, the streaming service can broadcast more than just conference football for its viewers, and could probably use the Pac-12 Network’s production services as well.

Very recently, Apple had placed too much emphasis on minor details in contract negotiations, resulting in the deal with the NFL for Sunday’s ticket package not materializing.

Dealing with the Pac-12 may not be as easy as the report claims, but it’s possible a solution could be reached.
