Benitez speaks on Hammers management rumours

Rafael Benítez has finally spoken out on the rumors linking him to the West Ham United job with David Moyes under pressure.

Speaking via the BBC’s Daily Football Podcast, Benítez revealed what he wants from the next stage of his managerial career.

“I told you. I have received almost 20 offers from national teams and countries, but my family says try to stay, try to stay in England or try to stay in Europe. I am waiting for Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England to be as as close as possible.

“I don’t need to go to a second division team or a mid-table team, I don’t need to do that. Now I want a project where I can compete and improve players.“

Benítez’s last managerial job was at Everton, where he was sacked in January 2022.

These words from Benítez surely quash any rumors that the West Ham job was on his radar, reducing the pool of potential candidates to replace David Moyes should he go any lower, so perhaps the best thing the club could do would be to stick with the Scotsman to see if he can really turn things around.
