Carragher defends ‘mismanagement’ of Henderson amidst ‘criticism’

Liverpool fans have gone from cloud nine after beating Everton and Newcastle in the Premier League, to feeling almost as depressed as at any time this season, but Jamie Carragher quickly jumped into Jordan Henderson’s defence.

Speaking about the players within the team who are receiving abuse, the Bootle-born pundit said: “The one people talk about the most is probably Jordan Henderson, he’s the captain. We all know midfield reinforcements are needed and that lad gets some flak from Liverpool fans, he shouldn’t.

“He got to 21, now he’s 31/32 and he won it all, he lifted all the trophies. The fact that he still has to play week after week means that there has been some mismanagement off the pitch.”

These are probably comments that will be well received by our captain, as they come from his former teammate and a legend of the club.

These words also seem to suggest that the former defender believes the Sunderland-born midfielder is losing quality, but we expect a review in his position this summer and therefore his minutes will be better managed (hopefully) next campaign.
