Newcastle’s Eddie Howe makes unwanted history after Liverpool defeat

Newcastle were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool on Saturday night at St. James’ Park in what was a terrible game for Eddie Howe, and the Magpies manager won’t want to hear the story he just made.

Goals from Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo in the first half helped the Reds get all three points, but the biggest concern for Howe was Nick Pope’s red card, meaning the keeper will miss the Cup final. Carabao against Man United next Sunday.

The defeat was only Newcastle’s second all season, both against Liverpool, and means Howe is the first manager in history to lose 10 consecutive league games with the Reds.

The Merseyside club are proving to be Howe’s ghost team and luckily for him, it’s the last time they will meet this season.

The statistic is incredible considering how long it spans and how big the Liverpool club is, which means they have inflicted defeat on many managers.

Sure this won’t bother the Newcastle boss in the least, but no one wants their name next to unwanted records.
