Manchester United came from behind to take the lead before drawing 2-2 against Barcelona.
The two European teams met in a Europa League play-off round after the Red Devils failed to top their group and the Blaugrana were knocked out of the Champions League.
Both United goals were scored by Marcus Rashford and an own goal by Barça defender Jules Kounde.
Xavi’s men shared the spoils between both teams with goals from Marcos Alonso and Raphinha.
Despite the tie still being open with everything to play for at Old Trafford, Ten Hag did not hide his disappointment that his players failed to convert their chances.
Ten Hag credited the team for creating multiple chances, but insisted that more should have been done to find the back of the net.
He said: “The criticism is: be more clinical, end opportunities. In a match like that, we created a lot of chances, you can’t expect that, but we did it.”
“It’s a bit disappointing that we haven’t scored more. We should have scored a minimum of four goals tonight.”
