Ian Wright ‘desperate’ to see 23-year-old Liverpool star succeed

Although Darwin Nunez hasn’t found the back of his net in any of his last four games, Ian Wright believes the Uruguayan is ‘playing sensational’ for Liverpool at the moment and has admitted he is ‘desperate’ for the 23-year-old. . to find the back of the net again soon.

The former Benfica striker, whose last goal came in early January during our FA Cup draw with Wolves, recorded a quality assist for the Reds on Monday night as they defeated Everton 2-0 at Anfield.

“I feel like it’s going to happen to him because he’s playing amazing,” Wright told Wright’s House Podcast (quoted by Caught Offside). “The goal that raised Salah [against Everton] and his generally energetic pace and production, he’s doing everything but scoring.⁣

“I can’t quite put my finger on why someone with such good technical ability, it’s not even a case of needing to slow down before firing, it just doesn’t look like I’m going to go in for it right now. ⁣

“I am desperate for him to score. You are trying to shoot from angles that are not good angles. Darwin Núñez’s playing at that rate is phenomenal, which is why I’m desperate for it to click. When it clicks, I think it will cause an incredible amount of trouble.⁣⁣”

Although he still has to regularly display the required composure in front of goal, the striker still wreaks havoc among opposition defenders and we think it’s only a matter of time before we see our No. 27 firing on all cylinders.

It should be remembered that this is only Núñez’s third full season playing top-tier soccer in Europe and he is still adjusting to life in a new country while learning to speak English.

He’s received a fair amount of criticism since arriving on Merseyside, but let’s hope he can silence his doubters once again on Saturday with a strong performance against Newcastle.
