Ederson’s failed mind games proved counteractive before Bukayo Saka penalty

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson apparently shot himself in the foot telling Bukayo Saka which corner to send his penalty to.

It was the Brazilian’s foul that prompted Arsenal to award the penalty, although fans have since regarded it as a harsh decision.

Ederson moved quickly off his goal line to try to block Eddie Nketiah on attack, but ended up colliding with the young striker and knocking him to the ground.

That’s when Gunners talisman Saka stepped up to take the penalty. Ederson pointed to the right side of him before diving to his left, while the Englishman took the goalkeeper’s advice and fired his shot in the direction of his finger.

City claim crucial away win

The converted penalty equalized the tie three minutes before the break and in the second half City upped the ante. Jack Grealish put his team ahead in the 72nd minute and 10 minutes later Erling Haaland scored his 32nd goal of the season (26 in the Premier League).
