LFC learn severity of Thiago’s hip injury; star doubtful for Real Madrid clash

Liverpool are concerned that Thiago Alcantara’s current hip injury will keep him sidelined for around four weeks, according to The Telegraph (via Express).

The Spaniard will miss tomorrow’s Merseyside derby with Everton at Anfield and joins a long injury list for the Reds.

Virgil van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Arthur Melo and Bobby Firmino all returned to training with the full squad earlier this week in a big boost for Jurgen Klopp, but Luis Díaz is expected to remain on the treatment table until next month and defenders Calvin Ramsay and Ibou Konate are also injured.

Our number 6 is likely to miss the Champions League round of 16 first leg with Real Madrid later this month in what is, of course, a huge blow.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich star would have been one of the first names on Klopp’s sheet for the clash with the LaLiga giants with the ease he brings to midfield.

Players like Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have performed well below par this season and Naby Keita continues to divide opinion among Liverpool supporters.

It will be interesting to see which midfield our German tactician chooses tomorrow with teenage midfielder Stefan Bajcetic impressing every time he has been called up recently.
