Hannibal Mejbri is “unplayable” on current form says manager John Eustace – Man United News And Transfer News

As Erik ten Hag struggles to fill the spaces in midfield at his decimated Manchester United, it’s easy to wonder why the club didn’t recall Hannibal Mejbri from his loan spell at Championship side Birmingham City.

In another man of the match performance last night, Hannibal scored a goal and provided an assist as the Blues beat West Brom 2-0 in a classic Birmingham derby.

The striking performance was backed up by the Tunisian’s match statistics, which included 17/21 passes completed and 2 great chances created.

Asked by Sky Sports after the match if he thought Ten Hag would have been watching his performance, the 20-year-old replied:

“I’m sure he has Sky! But I just need to focus until the end of the season and we’ll see in the summer.”

City Manager John Eustace commented:

“He was fantastic, his energy, his whole performance was in a different class.

“A 20-year-old boy, your first loan, you’re going to be out of shape, tired legs, which I think we’ve seen this season.

“But tonight he was back at his best. He came on at half time last week, he was instrumental in us turning the game around. It’s all part of having a player on loan for the first time, you deal with the ups and downs, but tonight was unplayable.”

The win moves the Blues to within one point of the Baggies and nine points out of the relegation zone.

If Hannibal can add that consistency to his performances as Eustace points out, he could build a strong case to become Bruno Fernandes’ No10 understudy for United next season.
