Carragher ‘not bothered’ by Salah’s current form ahead of Everton clash

Jamie Carragher believes Mo Salah will still finish the campaign on 25-30 goals despite him and the rest of his Reds team-mates struggling for form.

The Egyptian king has 17 goals and seven assists in 31 appearances this season (in all competitions) and will be keen to end his five-game drought against Everton on Monday night.

The Sky Sports pundit has discussed how some aspects of our No. 11’s game remind him of former Anfield favorite Fernando Torres and that he is not worried about the former Roma man’s current poor form.

“He’s going to end up with 25, close to 30. [goals]. We judge Salah very well. Yeah the team is not playing well so Salah will not be at his best,” Carragher told Across The Park Podcast (via Rousing The Kop). “I have never believed that Salah is a great player as such, he is a great scorer.

“He’s very direct, it’s all for the goal, he runs towards the goal, so sometimes he can have games where, a bit like Torres, he can take the ball and he collides with people and loses possession. Sometimes you are thinking of keeping it and running after it.

“When he’s on the song he can do that, but the team doesn’t help him. But I’m not worried about Salah.”

There is no better game for the 30-year-old to get back into shape than the Merseyside derby.

Although it would be nice to see it on the scoreboard, the main thing is that we put in a good performance and picked up a huge three points against Sean Dyche’s team.

The Toffees come into the game fresh off a huge 1-0 win over league leaders Arsenal last time out and will see their chances of causing another upset, but Carragher thinks the Blues will be wary of Salah returning to his better level against them. .

“Sometimes I think that when he’s gone so long without scoring, obviously he’s going to score soon,” added the Scouser.

“If I were Everton, I would be thinking: Salah is expecting a goal. This is how I think, he has a few games without scoring, so there must be one around the corner ”.

Although Thiago Alcantara has injured his hip and is a doubt for Monday’s clash, let’s hope we have enough to get back to winning ways and kick off what is a great second part of the campaign.
