Eric Bailly available for selection for Olympique Marseille after serving seven game ban – Man United News And Transfer News

Eric Bailly is set to restart his season after being unavailable for his team’s last seven games.

As reported by Sport Witness, the defender, on loan at Marseille, is once again available for selection after serving a suspension.

Bailly received a lengthy suspension for a chest-high tackle on Almike N’diaye in the Coupe de France, which left N’diaye hospitalized with fractured ribs.

French authorities reviewed the standard three-game ban and deemed the entry dangerous enough to extend the ban for a further four games.

Bailly has missed five Ligue 1 games and Marseille’s two subsequent French Cup games, including the weekend’s impressive win against PSG that clinched their place in the quarter-finals.

Marseille are also currently in decent form in Ligue 1, having suffered just one defeat in their last 10 league matches, they sit in second place, 8 points behind PSG.

Despite not playing for over a month, Bailly has played twelve times for the French club this season.

The Ivorian is now set to be called up for his trip to mid-table Clermont tomorrow night.

Bailly was deemed to be over-qualified at Old Trafford in the summer, with Erik ten Hag sanctioning the year-long loan deal.

Ten Hag bought Lisandro Martínez to play alongside Raphael Varane at the heart of their defence, with Victor Lindelöf and Harry Maguire as backups.

The performances of United’s first-choice central defenders have largely been excellent this season, leaving Ten Hag vindicated in his decision.

Bailly has racked up over 100 appearances during his time at Old Trafford, but constant injuries have prevented him from securing a first-team place.

Bailly is likely to leave Manchester on a permanent contract in the summer, either to Marseille or elsewhere.
