EPL commentators on NBC: Feb. 11 to 13

This weekend’s list of games misses out on perhaps the most anticipated game of the season, Arsenal hosting Manchester City. That’s a midweek game on Wednesday, February 15. Still, this weekend brings some big matchups. Many of them come at the bottom of the table, as the relegation battle involves at least six teams.

Look no further than Southampton hosting Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves have seven points from their last four games. It’s not an outrageous record, but a strong one for a team that was ranked 19th not long ago. Wolves now find themselves in 15th place, while Saints of Southampton remain entrenched at the bottom. Southampton are desperate for points, two behind Bournemouth and four from safety.

Another game to focus on is Leeds hosting Manchester United. The two staged a thrilling 2-2 in which the Whites got a much-needed point at Old Trafford. After sacking Jesse Marsch, the club is now looking for its fifth win of the season against one of the most in-form teams in the league.

Rounding off the weekend’s action is the Merseyside Derby between Everton and Liverpool. While there are still 11 points of separation between the two, this is a pivotal game for both. Liverpool are way behind the pace when it comes to seeking a Champions League spot. Everton, coming off a shock win over league leaders Arsenal, are still in the relegation zone. A win on Monday would be huge for several reasons.
