“Let’s be honest” – Former Liverpool defender reacts to Jurgen Klopp’s Real Madrid links

Jurgen Klopp is going through his worst stage as Liverpool manager.

The Reds are already out of the EFL and FA Cup and sit in 10th place in the Premier League table. The club’s season is entirely dependent on the Champions League and with a round of 16 tie against defending champions Real Madrid, it seems the odds are heavily stacked against Klopp.

Consequently, now under pressure at Anfield, there have been suggestions that the German could step down and take up another high-profile role.

Speaking in an exclusive interview at the start of the week, Stan Collymore said: “The reality is, if the FSG sack Klopp, there is no one else better equipped to do a better job, so anyone who asks him to go should Be careful what they ask for because I’m sure if he suddenly became available, you’d have Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG and even Chelsea in the queue.”

Responding to suggestions that Klopp could end up replacing Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol, who spoke to HITC, said: “Let’s be honest, he’s had a bad seven months,” Nicol said. “But the last 14 years with Liverpool and Dortmund, it hasn’t been bad.

“Would you really have a problem?! Yes, you’re right (it would be brilliant). It would be good.”
