Naby Keita ‘on verge’ of making Liverpool decision

Liverpool fans will be well aware of the fact that Naby Keita is one of the players whose contract is set to expire at the end of this season and it seems there has been an update on where his career will head next.

As reported by Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany: ‘#Keita News: The 27-year-old is about to leave #LFC as a free agent in the summer! Contract extension is unlikely at this stage. Many clubs are interested in signing him. But he will not join Galatasaray. His return to ???????? is not ruled out.

So it seems that the news that many expected to be happening is a bit closer to being confirmed, as our number 8 looks set to depart from Anfield and end his five-year tenure with the Reds.

The Guinean has arguably been the only major transfer mistake to have been made during Jurgen Klopp’s reign at the club as, despite flashes of brilliance, he has not been able to consistently perform at a high level or maintain your physical state.

It seems he still has plenty of fans in Germany given his success in an RB Leipzig jersey, so that could be the ultimate fate of the midfielder who inherited Steven Gerrard’s iconic shirt number.

If the 27-year-old decides to move from Merseyside we obviously won’t recoup the funds for his services, however this will increase the likelihood of a complete midfield revamp in the summer.
