Zaniolo’s Turkish switch leaves an opening for Juventus future

While the winter transfer session has now expired in most European leagues, the Turkish Super Lig market is still in full swing as the gates remain open until Wednesday.

Therefore, Galatasaray will have the chance to nail down a shocking move for Nicolò Zaniolo in the next few hours. The Italian has been on a collision course with his current employer Roma, especially after a few rounds of unsuccessful negotiations for a new contract.

But while Juventus have long been fans of the 23-year-old, the club is currently paralyzed by the ongoing legal and financial crisis, preventing management from bolstering Max Allegri’s ranks in January.

However, the transfer of the attacking midfielder to Istanbul could leave an opportunity for a future in Turin.

According to Sky Sport via ilBianconero, Zaniolo’s contract with Galatasaray will include a termination clause worth 35 million euros.

The versatile player began his career in the lower categories of Genoa. He then had stints at Fiorentina and Inter, but only achieved his breakthrough at senior level after his arrival in the Italian capital in 2018.

Juve FC says

As a self-proclaimed childhood Juventus supporter, we can never rule out a future for Zaniolo at the Allianz Stadium.

So if his new contract does indeed include an affordable release clause, then the Bianconeri would certainly have a better chance of landing the Italian compared to last summer, when Roma were demanding hefty sums in exchange for the player’s services.
