United went on the attack early on with some lovely overlapping play from Toone and Galton, but it meant nothing to the Reds.

Everton envisioned their chances by making a run down the right, but the Reds deflected it away for a series of corners. A glancing header from second nearly found the far bottom corner.

Everton were caught in possession by Russo who proceeded to dance around the remaining defence, she grappled with Ladd who was in more space but his shot went wide.

Everton had their own chances when Park made a good run up the middle, but United defended the center well.

A good opportunity fell to Batlle, who took a shot from outside the area after a corner kick but it went too high.

Moments later, and Garcia had the best chance of the half, Toone turned it into space on the right, but his shot over the keeper hit the crossbar.

Russo also found the woodwork when his shot from the six-yard mark hit the outside of the post.

It was a fast start for United in the second half as Ella Toone pulled off a hat-trick of wooden hits for the Reds.

The hosts kept up the pressure when Galton had a chance, but she was unable to keep on target.

Hannah Blundell found herself in space on the left, but her shot went straight for goalkeeper.

Zelem had a brilliant chance when Batlle returned it to her and her volley was well saved by the Toffee goalkeeper.

Although United were dominating the proceedings, Everton had their chances and a poor back pass from Batlle allowed Parks a golden opportunity. Fortunately, Earps and Turner narrowed the angle and his shot went wide.

United had chance after chance but couldn’t find the net. The Everton goalkeeper had a good game, but United should have done better if he really wants to make his mark as a WSL title contender.
